50th
Anniversary of Friendship in 2017
It
was 50 years ago that we came to know one another. Meals were prepared and
served on time every day. The 6-seater formica top wooden tables was what we
vividly remembered when we were under training at the former NYLTI at South
Buona Vista Road. Three dishes and a soup was what we paid for via monthly
deduction of salaries. However, there were unlimited white rice and plain water to go
along with. No one complained about the food. We stayed in the hostel and attended
lectures after lectures without fail. There were little time of our own because we had to prepare
lesson plans and operation schedules to meet the much demanded deadlines. Cleaning
the hostel was a routine at each weekend before settled for the hard-earned
off-days on Sundays. Every trainee must return to the hostel before 10:00 pm on
Sundays for the tough residential training programmes.
50
years later, we gathered with no commitments and enjoyed at the chit-chat
sessions. We never stopped laughing while poking fun at our friends. The good
old days were still fresh in our minds for some of us though we had forgotten
some of the tough times we had gone through together.
Dear
friends, we will continue to find time to reminisce and enjoy our lasting
friendship together. Please remember to come and be seated together when we
enjoy our next Ala-Carte Buffet Get-together on 18 February 2017.
